By the beginning of April, the Detroit River walleye run has begun. Large female walleye enter the river providing an excellent opportunity to catch record class fish. The bite is not as fast as it is later in the spring but the walleye can be huge! As April progresses, more and more walleye enter the river as the male walleye begin to flood into the river system. By the beginning of May, the Detroit River is full of “eater” sized walleye with limits of fish usually being caught rather quickly!
